Armrest for my rod arm side. Still working on this but it's getting better. Next is to add some nonslip grip to the top.
I used a Hobie H bar rail mount that I removed the pin & clamp from. Then I drilled a couple holes in it & attached it with a couple zip ties. Then I screwed a black piece of 3/8" starboard to the top. The grey seat back adjustment lever still works fine.

So far so good with my new Revo16. There are definitely some differences from my old Adventure16 that I didn't anticipate but I've got enough seat time now I'm sure I'll eventually adapt to the new boat. The new seat is worth it.

Nice.

Would it get in the way if you had to re-enter from that side?
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Nice Jim.

What are some of the differences between the old and new boats that you mentioned, just curious.

This is something I hadn't considered.
But I usually rest my right elbow on the starboard gunnel of my Revo while trolling. And it's somewhat comfortable. But I like your solution Jim! Maybe attach a bottle opener on the underside and a beer coozie on top.

That's what I used to do also but I found it's not possible with the new seat. At least not for me.

Nice Jim.

The higher new seat making the gunwales out of reach for use as armrests.

The deletion of the rear molded in cupholder which was the only one not in the way.

The deletion of the left side paddle holder.

Decreased space in hull near center hatch.

No molded in aka mount inserts.

Larger cut out under left side hull handle funnels more water onto rudder handle & under seat areas.

I've already addressed these issues where I could make improvements & the rest I'll just adapt to soon.

Thanks Jim.  What's your experience with COG and stability using the new seat in low position on the salt?  Any noticable change relative to the old seat?

The deletion of the left side paddle holder.

That seem like an un-improvement. The small sail can be rolled up and stored in the paddle holder, but that's no longer an option if the paddle is in there.

Cool idea.  Maybe you can further improve it by having it swing out of the way if need be.  Can't think of how in my mind but the office seat arm rest I have can pivot.  Next thing you know it Hobie would intagrate  that better by having it flipped back the opposite way and tucked away flush with the seat.  Not to mention making it adjustable to fit every person.

COG is the same in low position. Besides the big difference in comfort I've also noticed improved pedaling efficiency due to less flex in the seat back & the more upright position i can maintain. Having the front of the seat kicked up, in calmer water, is also very comfortable for a position change. The old seat offered a more 'direct' connection between body & kayak. All of the old style seats of every brand do. So in very rough water I'm guessing even in the lowest position some people may perceive less stability even though the COG is the same. I haven't been out in that bad of conditions yet. It's summertime.
