my oceanside trip

fished mbk on saturday with my son. and i took 2nd place.
loaded the yaks and launched at cambria by 4 pm. it was low tide and saw a bunch of ling carcases but never fished there before could not find any water deeper than 40 feet.loaded up again and on the.monday launched out of ocean side harbor.
sandiego was having heavy surf and incredible winds.as we rounded the harbor jetty the waves were washing over the north jetty.and it was a actual battle to keep the bows into the swell .my sons rod gets slamed while he was trying to pee
in this mess, he reels up and his sledge hammer is shredded. wich gives us hope.
so we battle on. after about a hour were through and want shelter from the harbor
my rod gets slamed and line starts screeming off the reel.  i cant seem to raise this thing from the depths it seams like eternity, mean while the incredible drift has in danger of the jetty. my son grabs my anchor rope lashes it and tows me out and clear, while i fight this monster.some how i managed to snag the biggest bat ray my eyes have seen. a little disapointed it was not a hali, but what a great fight.

i was down in san diego this past weekend, and there was heavy surf and onshore winds.  the best day was sat morning (no winds), but big swells.  it got ugly again on sunday.  good to hear you made it back in safe!
