Don't fight Father time Buzzcut. I have a collapsible trailer from harbor freight that will become my next project for trailering my kayak. If the possibility exists for a trailering option embrace it my friend.  :smt001
Give yourself less headaches and a more enjoyable experience when its time to use your yak and save your back !!!!

it more of a pita to install and remove the 48" hitch extension on the truck which weighs over 100 pounds because the camper never comes off the truck or put a hitch on one of the cars and buy a trailer to boot.. day trips car roof rack. road trips in the camper to the boonies screw towing on dirt roads.  I prefer to only need enough space to park the truck to camp not have to find something that fits truck and trailer.

That Revolution 13 is gonna weigh in right around 100 pounds.  About 20+ pounds more than a Tarpon 140.  (I think that's what you have now.)

BTW, I also leave my camper on my truck most times, and I also leave the hitch extension installed as well.  You take yours off when not towing?  I figure it will give the guy who rear ends me something to think about as it goes through their radiator and engine block!  Ha!!

My trailer hitch lock is so rusted and unable to remove. I don't even worry about removing it anymore.  :smt001. There is still a little play to move it around though. The one I had on my old 84 gmc dually had very little play  . One day I tried to remove it and it was rusted solid into the receiver. It wouldn't even bang out with a sledge hammer.  :smt001 Miss that dually.  :smt010

Jerry, you have to put the step off to the side under the ladder if the extension is there which makes going in and out a PITA plus I loose rear end ground clearance on forest service roads. The Camper bumper sits behind the electrical trailer plug

Per Hobie specs the Revolution 13 without mirage drive, paddle and seat (which we stow inside the camper on Ruths boat) weighs in at
72 pounds which is similar to the Tarpon with the rudder kit. the Revolution is 91 pounds if I stowed the drive, paddle and seat inside the hull which I'm not going to do.

Well that didn't take long. Sold my Tarpon to a good friend of 25 years for a screaming deal to make room for the Hobie that I will buy in the next few days.  Darlene is going to have a fun new toy to go along with her Motocross bike, Mt Bike, Climbing and camping gear...

Now to pick the color for my Hobie....
