Al,
I just saw the new Okuma Cold Water at Mel Cottons.   It's a low profile baitcaster with line counter and clicker.  It has 25 lbs of drag too.   It comes in right or left for $159.99.
Thank you!  I will check that out!  What I wish is that this one had a line counter on it: http://www.fishermanswarehouse.com/shop/abu-garcia-kokanee-custom-reel/

I'm a righty and reel right with conventional.  Works for me because I drop my pole on the right side of the kayak.  I can let go of the crank and be able to scoop the fishvwith the net with the stronger right arm easily

25 lbs of drag?!? Talk about overkill!

Nice looking reel, though. I bet it would kick some ass as a light tackle mooching reel...

You can add a LC to most Abu rounds!

Do they have a "Righty" counter (for LH)?  :smt044

I'm right handed and like lefties for baitcasting.  With my right hand,  I can feel bites better and get quicker and stronger hook sets.   For conventional, I use righties.  The left hand holds the rod and guides the line in.
I went down to guns and fishing and bought this reel. I've been needing a line counter with clicker, so I'm glad it has the features I was looking for. I'm looking forward to trying it out Saturday.

I'm right handed and prefer left handed reels. In my situation, it makes sense to be able to use my stronger side for jigging or fighting a big fish and then use the left hand for just winding.

What Al mentioned about switching hands after casting is spot on too. I would rather learn to cast from the left side with a RH reel than spend that extra time switching all of the time (if my only option was a RH reel).

Fortunately with most spincasters the reel can be made "left" or "right" handed. I am left handed by have a problem with my left hand and so now have more endurance with my right hand so standard conventional reels work OK. As a lefty I have had to learn to do almost everything nearly as well with my right hand over the years, especially with sports (archery, golf, baseball, tennis, shooting).
