My aged parents are visiting this weekend from well manicured OC.  Planning on taking them and my kid into nature for some outdoor pix.
Daffodil Hill in Amador looks nice, but 5+ hour roundtrip not so nice.

Q1: Is it worth the drive?
Q2: Recommend options closer to San Jo for comparable scenic wildflowers?

thx in advance

The hills around the Forebay this wknd were a vibrant green...it was really pretty.
Some of the MoCo spots to checkout: Jack's Peak, Palo Corona, Andrew Molera, or out by New Idria...I remember seeing some amazing pics on pickerrell's blog last spring...the hillsides turn purple.

After Saturday's trail run through quicksilver park, figured wildflowers in the actual wild may miss the mark.  Researched a bunch on bay area public gardens, ended up at Filoli in Woodside.  Hit the motherlode, grandeur like yankee version of Downton Abbey.

http://www.filoli.org/explore-filoli/the-garden/whats-blooming.html

Busy, but not crowded.  Expansive grounds = ample opportunity for good photog time.  Midweek, probably have place to yourself to take whatever pick you'd like.  Huge pear orchard gonna explode in bounty at some point, but sadly two lips maybe 1 week past peak bloom.  Bountiful daffodils make up for it though.  kicker bonus was watching a model shoot by the pool.  Trim that superb deserves premium dollas, fo rillz.

If you a petal-philes, def worth price of admission and I bot membership.  haven't figd whether my passes are transferable, but if they is, happy to lend.  apologies for the non-fishing related topic, but i know there's a few bros out there with kids, who like me, always scratching head about safe family activities

Daffodil Hill is probably closed already.  You may want to check before driving out there.  It's nice, but for me, barely worth the drive and I live about an hour away.  Lots of green in the hills though, for a drive.  But then anyplace in California probably is this time of year.

If you go, it's not an easy walk for really old folks.  If people have trouble on slopes, hills and dirt trails, then it's gonna be tough on them.

Do something like Henry Cowel, or BigBasin and take some of the easy trails through the giant redwoods  :smt002
