Saved my ass after my house fire. Good idea to keep one in your vehicle. Certainly glad I had mine….

Keep water filters in various places along with food and other stuff….

Curious what your stuck on using lamp oil for? Why that over other fuels? Good idea to at least carry water treatment pills. Filters and several platypus bags are good too. Empty for storage they weigh almost nothing.

While reminiscing through some old posts I made, I've tried a few things since this post.  I've determined that the magnifying lens on the 4 func. whistle is useless for attempting to start a fire.  So, it's pretty much a splinter chaser now.
The EMT pouch I used for my first EDC is now attached to my Laptop bag (EDC) as a water bottle case.
Cotton might not be the best material to try and start with a magnifying glass, being white and all.  Try some sawdust or wood shavings? Do you wear glasses Troy?  I wanna try making fire with Sara's glasses sometime, just to see if it can be done.  Well, maybe an old pair just in case  :smt004

How about some dryer lint? I save that and use it for fire tinder. Add some wax. Or, I was watching American Frontier and they were using moose droppings rolled in wax. I bet you could do the same thing with little wads of dryer lint.

A roll of elec tape is always on my yak, and one in the truck.
In the truck, extra steel toe boots, work gloves, lots of surgical gloves, a crowbar, rope, heavy work coveralls, water purifier, first aid supplies, tent ,sleeping bag, hard hat, fire extinguisher, some basic tools, including an adjustable wrench for shutting off gas-very important...Im not certified but have taken a course in first responder, the idea is when the quake or whatever hits, you get yourself safe, your neighbors safe, then help folks that need help, hence the boots, gloves, crowbar...A legal .22 bolted to the truck with a box of ammo and cleaning kit is not a bad idea either IMO. Better to have when needed instead of need and not have.

Nail clippers, flashlight, and bandana are things I never leave home without.  They live in my backpack.

Like the sharpie CGN...... Whenever a tourniquet is applied that sharpie is used.... And a regular pen just hurts the skin.

Lamp oil is used to spread over tinder to help spread the flame.  I have lots of it at home so that why I use it.  I do have dryer lint,  it's kept in a altoids tin at the moment with my straw single use tabasco, sugar, pepper, and salt.  I'll add some EEVO at some point in the future.
The lint will be moved to my EDC pack eventually.
