Thanks for the kind words. It has been quite a drought fishing for me the last few years. I was getting worried the weather was too nice and we were headed towards a skunk. Definitely make the trip up there if you can.

One a side note I got pulled over twice coming back through sparks. First by a NV trooper because I was drinking from a water bottle and didn't have two hands on the wheel. After the usual license and reg running, I was let go with a warning. Figured the CA plates made me a target. Second time was a sheriff motorcycle unit. This time I was warned for not having a flag for my kayak which extended past my tail lights beyond the legal limit. He also said my load couldn't be that secure with out fore and aft tie downs. Keep that in mind if you make the trip up there.

Nice job on that sweet fish.  Yeah hey don't fight hard, but they make up for it in size!

That's a beautiful cutthroat trout. Missed my Montana fishing days.

super cool report guys! I'm really stoked for you.
I used to help guide memorial day paddles on that lake through the UCSC rec program, so I've paddled the far end a handful of times but I never did fish it. I finally stopped due to too many drunk yahoos at the hot springs. Your pictures look like the good old days have returned, if one chooses their time wisely!

Kudos on a job well done!
