The adventure started off with my dog pouting as I brought her over to my parents house.

I managed to get everything loaded at 0'dark 30. Much more on time than normal super late.

Met up with Great Bass around 8 in Sparks, NV. On the water around 9. Beautiful day.

I pulled various u20 flat fish. Had one bump but it didn't stick. We launched what i believe was Indian Head Rock and worked down to Sand hole beach. Working our way back to the vehicles, we started to run a large s pattern over the ledges. Then BAM! My rid loaded up. Thought I snagged till the big head shakes started. Lahontan cutthroat are not the hardest fighters but this one had weight to it. I had to call for an assist. I wasn't going to land this one solo with my dinky trout net in my hatch. I didn't get pictures of the beast myself but Scott snapped a few while I tried to keep the fish out of the water for as little time as possible. He described it like netting a salmon. A personal best from the lake for me. Pics to come!

Ended the day at Cabela's where I picked up my smoker and two pretty blue rods for the wife.

Huge thanks to Scott for making it out with me and especially for help with the net. That lake can be intimidating alone.

Met Brian at the Burger King in Sparks around 7:45AM . Caravanned up to the lake. Some 4 wheel drive fun and a really cool commando launch  site right across from the pyramid. Didn’t launch till a little after nine. Really spectacular conditions, warm enough that all I wore was a fleece vest. I stayed at an old college buddies house Friday night in Sparks and Molly was up late socializing and slept most of the day on the trampoline. Brian was pulling a big flatfish and I pulled a J-13 rainbow. It was one of those days where it is magical on the water, kind of like an Abking report. First light on the water was beautiful.  The reports said the fish were deep so I ran the downrigger from 15-30’ down. I had one drive by but it didn’t  stick. On the hail Mary run back to the car, Brian hooked a monster cut. Turned out they weren’t as deep as we thought. Peddled over to help out and take pics. Maybe 22-25” and 7-9# is my guess but I didn’t get a real good look. Massive head and mouth. I caught a lot of cuts during my Wyoming fly fishing days but nothing over 20”. A personal best for Brian and I was really stoked for him. Pretty clean release. Molly finally woke up in time for lunch. She has a good life. No fish for me but had a great time. Got to use a Seeker trout rod I built last year and really like it. All s-glass with a nice parabolic bend and beefy (J Lo) butt section. Good to hook up with Brian, haven’t fished with him in years. At least he isn’t “lost mojo” anymore. OTW at 1130. Will definitely return with some flatfish. It’s big water, bigger than Tahoe and can be dangerous when the fan turns on but today it was FAC. Life is good.

Nicely done gentlemen.  Now I'm really sorry I missed it.  I didn't even get to ISE.  Woke up this morning with a chest cold and spend the morning fighting ad re-directs.   :smt010

Nice report, always wanted to fish there instead of passing by on the way to Black Rock City.
