From what I have heard, shelter cove california is the farthest south that pacific halibut are caught.  Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, pacific halis are caught out of The Cove.

Those striped RF look like cowcod (must release in CA).

I might have to buy a few of those huge grubs!

Thanks for the link,

The skipper who runs the boat I mothership off of Makes a good business sportfishing for halibut out at False cape and down to shelter cove. We for sure have the big hallies out here, The skipper worries That I may actually hook in to one and it'll be game over in a kayak. I'm pretty sure he's referring to pacific halibut

Mothership out of that area?  Is this just a friend or someone who does it for business?  I would like to know of anyone who offers a mothership service in that area.  Any info would be appreciated.

This is a public forum so I try to dance around do anything commercially but the mothership is part of my kayak fishing business. I take groups out to the coast by Boat and we offload kayaks and fish. Capt phil is one of the best sport fisherman in the area and he puts us right on the fish. I haven't had too many opportunities to take clients out but it's starting to catch on. I'll be running trips full bore come next season. look me up on humboats.com
