Pat,

I've made the offer to drive up to San Carlos to take a look at the unit.  Its, honestly, very rare that a unit is dead out if the box.  I'm waiting to see if he takes me up on the offer.  The San Carlos store just underwent a staff change just a couple weeks before Christmas.  In the meantime, I'm trying to step up for Lowrance to help him configure it.

So ,  I have been crazy busy with work and the holidays.   I hadn't powered up the unit since I got a call from West Marine to come pick it up.   Bill sent me. a text with some ideas on what may be wrong.  I had tried everything before I went down to West Marine.   So anyway I power it up and it's no longer stuck in Ensenada, and it shows San Carlos, where it sat for a week.   Based on Bills message he sent me I figured I was in business because it takes 5 to 15 minutes to lock on to a satellite.   After about 5 minutes it locked onto a satellite and had me in San Mateo.   I'm not sure what they did with it while it was in San Carlos,  but when I picked it up they told me I would get a call to have someone help me.   Well I'm glad it worked when I fired it back up. this morning..  Thank You Bill for the messages and support.   Can't wait to start using it.

I've had it happen to my old Lowrance Elite 5.  Easy fix, Wait to get a satellite lock, Go Chart Page, Click Menu, Click "Return to Vessel".  Your current location should show up.

Those on the fence about Elite 5 or 7 CHIRP units here's a chance for $100 off!!!!

Buy an Elite 5/7 CHIRP unit at the upcoming San Francisco Boat Show the 23-25th & get a mail in rebate offer for $100.  The rebate offer flyer lists a multitude of shows bot that appears to be the next local show for us NCKA folks!  I will be at the show Saturday/Sunday (Jan 24/25) @ the Lowrance/Simrad/B&G booth so come by & say hello and pick up a rebate form!!!

While you are there ... take a test drive of the new Lowrance HDS Gen3 units!  SUPER fast GPS processing, touch screen, built-in CHIRP, wireless technology, full keypad and touch screen & a host of other fun things it can do.  Got my hands on one for the first time last weekend & WOW ....  I want one now!!!
