I just picked up a 1999 OK Zest 2 in great shape. It's the older model, without flush mount rod holders, though. I'm not sure there's room for them, but I wanted to see if anyone here has any input. I just want to be careful about where or if to put holes in my new boat.

On that note, has anyone added flush mounts or Scotty mounts to the Malibu Two? That kayak has taken a third place slot in my fleet and could use a boost of functionality.
Thanks,
Andrew

Mi added flush mounts to two Malibu 2's for the HOW boats. They fit fine in the back. I will find a picture and post it in a while. If you can't fit flush mounts you can use the smaller Scotty round surface mounts, then add Rod Master or Rod Master II holders on 6" extensions.  I have pics of that too, but mine are the larger Scotty. Round bases. If the larger bases fit then so will the flush mounts. I like my set up better because I can use the mount for down rigger or anything else I want to and you can't do that with the flush mounts as easy, unless you get the Gimbal adapters.
Pics in a little bit.

Thanks for the tips. Flush mounts are tricky because if the surface isn't flat or if the on;y spot to mount them is on an incline facing the inside of the boat, then the rods will stick up straight or at some awkward angle. I'm thinking that attaching Scotty mounts to a bunch of different parts of the kayaks will allow for the most versatility.

This looks really nice can use it to transport then change the angle to fish! Perhaps slightly heavier than a flush mount (and more $$$) but keeps the rod vertical for launching and landing. Excuse the tread jack M2 but RR what about for my tarpon 160.....same thing?

That is my Tarpon. I use two of the Scotty track mounts 438's I think to mount two more of the rodmaster set ups on my factory rails for a total of 4 sometimes. Plus I have 5 more tubes on my crate for Rod/club/net/?? storage.

Those new yak-attack tracks might be a good option here.
