I knew I would have a Raptor in my life. Spent a day OTW in a demo fishing with Jim Martin (a pleasure in itself) and committed to it before we got ashore. Fortunately, a couple of hours after we launched in SC, the wind, swells, and chop picked up, so that I could see how she performed in those conditions. WOW: I knew she would be stable, but I had no idea she would also be fast and maneuverable. Loved it.

I picked mine up in Jim's Watsonville shop, and he made sure she met his rigid, high standards before he let me take off with her. We are waiting for a comfort seat from his supplier, and that is the only change I'll need for her; for my needs, she was ready to go, as is.

BTW: we each caught Lings and witnessed a terrific whale show very close to us. I am a happy man.

Sweet yak. I'd love to try that yak out sometime. I've learned that while I like my predator for certain conditions, I'd like a much lighter yak and this one looks perfect.

It's great that you paddled with Jim and picked the kayak from the man himself. Here's hoping it serves you well for many years.
