I only went there once, in winter, chasing stripers. So here's my take: only go in winter, and head south from the launch.

Wife and I were there from 0730-1200 Saturday fished mainly down stream from the launch, may have saw a Blue tandem kayak about 1000 or so.  No luck all day, lots of weeds and mossy material in the water had to keep cleaning it off of our KF.

Hey tsd1, that would have been us. A guy with an 11 year old son. We were out for maybe one hour... then just fished the banks/docks.

I was going to go today until I saw your report. It saved me from a long miserable trip!

Glad to have helped. I think there would be some good bass fishing early...like odark early, but other than that, the traffic is just too much for a novice and side kick in a tandem....
