Drilling holes is half the fun though!!!
Amos, especially considering the location of holes you'd drill along the vertical face of the Sonar Shield...pretty difficult for water to seep through. One of the reasons why the Sonar Shield kicks ass. 

The only thing I had against the Sonar Shield was the distance forward on the kayak it was.  Now, for what it's worth, I only tried that hull once and it was on a prototype boat prior to the initial production run WAY back when.  We didn't even have a sonar mounted on it.  Maybe the newer yak's aren't as far forward.

Pat is correct ... again.  It would be pretty hard to get water up in there.  Especially if you used the Hobie clam's because they use a cool gasket/seal to help prevent water.
