Have you ever you started looking at the ocean detail and follow it looking around for cool place s to fish. Well I was doing that last night and was following the ocean looking structure when I went past Hawaii and saw this island called Johnston Atoll. I had never heard of it and then started googling it and found out all kind of information on how it was a nuclear missile test location and even found footage on youtube showing some of the tests. It is too bad we had to go in and destroy this pristine coral reef for our nuclear testing and hopefully someday it can be restored. Well after 5 hours of watching all this , I thought I would at least share it since it seems to be a very interesting. I included a couple of links that I thought were the best but I am sure there are more.

I know that place.  It was a place of infamy for us MP's.  Some of the older guys in my old unit told stories about doing a rotation out there, and they burned everything they owned before leaving the island.  They couldn't talk about much more than that.

They did mention that it wasn't really the radiation they feared; it was the fear of waking up one morning to find your skin melting off because of a chemical weapons leak...

Bikini Atoll is another place they did nuclear test on. They relocated everyone that lived on the island to do it too.

Johnson Atoll was used for Chemical weapons destrction, from what I understand from some people who were stationed there, there was great fishing off the back of the island.

My grandfather worked at LLNL for 30yrs and did dozens of nuclear "test" at various atolls within the Marshall Islands chain. Bikini is infamous but there was other stuff going on too!
