I will be in Shelter Cove with my parents the first wknd of October. The 6, 7, and 8th. We will be staying on our property there; my parents in their trailer and me in my tent. (We haven't started building yet so we just camp out for now---but next year we will have an actual house to stay in--WooHoo!)
Is anyone interested in meeting me up there for some kayak fishing for rockies, lings, halis, and maybe salmon? We usually go out on the Annika with Capt Sammy but I'm trying to introduce my parents to kayak fishing. And that 38lb salmon last week might have been enough to entice my dad to buy a yak...
(-;

I know this is way in advance...but I'm just so pumped up about it that I can't stop thinking about The Cove! And it is a long drive for most people so advance notice probably isn't a bad thing.

Alrighty then, see ya up there,
PK

I'm markin' my calendar!   :smt001  Hope to see you there.  Where's your property in relation to landmarks there?  Like upper store, lower store/campground, Upper Pacific, Lower Pacific...

Off Lower Pacific, in Bambi Court.
We might end up getting a campsite though...just because its closer to the launch/store, etc.

I'm really looking forward to hitting The Cove! Trying to get a few more people to go, including my friend with a boat. However, it might be preferrable to fish from a kayak...especially when you consider the 30-40 dollar launch fee they charge there.

I've met Cap'n Sammy a few times - he's a character...  My family chartered the Annika once, years ago - we boated a 30-somthing # lingcod that day.    Salmon bite has been really slow, but I hope that changes for your trip.   :smt004

I was just surfing around in old fishing reports from the Cove and came across this impressive photo - it was a 41# ling until they cut it open and found two large sinkers the skipper had slipped in it to mess with the proud angler who caught it!  Turned out to be a 35#'er - looks bigger than that!  We'll hope to find one or more of these when you show up in October, PK.

Hi PK,

I own 2 lots in Shelter Cove and go there to ab-dive 5 - 10 times each year.  If I don't travel next week (business) then I'll joint you for kayak fishing and maybe abalone diving too!

I'll be there on Friday & Saturday, returning on Sun day morning.  Are you still plan to be there?  We can meet at the lighthouse around noon on Friday if this fits your schedule.  Hope to see you there!

Mahito...ditto the MBK sale prior to fishing on Saturday. I still need to buy a paddle...
Where are you thinking? PG, Carmel, or further south?
