9/30 San Luis shorebound

My older son Joshua and I tried a little shore bound fishing at San Luis where the canal flows into the forebay, I think its called check 12.  Lots of stripers in the "I think its bigger than my hand" size.  The biggest problem was keeping bait on the hook without the little guys stripping it clean.  Did manage one legal fish.  Wind was a bit breezy but not bad, had some really cool cloud formations.

nice report, i tried fishing the ca. aqueduct on the way to tranquillity and there was no bite. your report makes me feel like stopping earlier and throwing out a few lures: O )

Good job on the legal striper from shore. I've been skunked there too many times to admit...

we were using anchovies for bait, cut at first then started threading whole fish to try and keep the dinks from stripping us within a few minutes.  Last year we hit the forebay a few times in the fall and caught a decent number of 17.5 inch fish.  I think the fish know to scrunch up and get under 18 inches!

at any rate, a nice day with my son, a few fish, it doesnt get much better.
