Kevin (insearchoffish) texted me a week and half ago and said hey are you fishing the Norcal kayak Anglers derby at Clear Lake?  I checked with Wendy and sure enough we were fishing it.  LOL  We headed up Friday night after Zachary’s first baseball game and setup camp.  Woke up at 4am and on the water shortly after our 5am check-in.

I got my first two fish on a lipless crankbait around the docs.  17.75” and 17.5”

Then I had a drought for quite a while and picked up two more on live minnows, another 17.5” and a 20.75” fish.

I lost my fifth fish at the boat in last seconds of fishing before I had to go weigh in.  I was lucky enough to finish in second place and won a lot of cool prizes.  Kevin took first place.  That’s all I will say as I don’t want to take his thunder when he reports when he gets back from the coast.  It was awesome day followed by an afternoon and night of BBQ, Laughing, and hanging out with good folks.  You cant ask for more than that can you?  Thanks to everyone from NCKA for making this happen and allowing me to attend.  I can’t wait for the next one.
