I have a Malibu Stealth 9 but I want a bigger yak for ocean fishing.  I have done a lot of research and it seems that the Malibu X Factor and the Ocean Trident 13 Angler are the two that best fit my needs.  What are the pros and cons of these two?  Does anyone have experience with both of them?  Thanks.

Hey , I have had  a Malibu X-factor for 3-4 yrs and really am happy with it. it's the only sit -on i own so i may be a little biased, but ratted at 625lbs, it is a two person , if you have the optional seat in the front hatch cover, I do :).  I usually go solo, but nice to have the muscle.  AS  for stability it is stable as long as you don't stand up in it.  I have been dumped once, but that is another story.
````` I love pulling up lings with it,@Link lane at Fort Ross is my one of my favorite places.
I paid $1400 or so for it  and came with a lot of extras, plus a truck devise to carry the yak!
Craigs list is the place to find a good used kayak!
I know nothing about the trident 13 angler, but imagine it's a great boat!
Whatever you chose , be safe and, fish on!
The Trident paddles better but the X is more stable with a higher weight capacity. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either yak. I would personally go for the Trident due to the RodPod storage and Sonar Shield...which are great for beach launching/landing...because that's what I do. Also, I'm only 6' 200lbs. Get the one that's best suited for your fishing style. One of my only complaints about the Trident was the RodPod chaffed on my legs...it got annoying after like 9hrs OTW.
I have the T13 and it is a great yak. I like the ability to store my rods inside the yak when I am headed to the salt. The sonar shield and battery bag are nice. The builtin scotty mounts are also quite handy. All in all it is a great yak.
So does the current model of the X-Factor provide hull access only through the front hatch, not through the hatch closest to the front of the seat, for stowing rods for surf launches and landings?
The hatch in front of the seat allows access to the hull. I don't think a long handled rod will fit in that hatch though.
I own a Trident 13 it is versatile, capable, and paddles well.  Test paddle both, although you cant go wrong you will prefer one or the other. I didn't see where you are located but I would gladly let you try mine if you are in the North Bay.
