My cars transmission just went out on me. Was wondering if any of my NCKA family  knows anyone or even knows how to rebuild transmissions.
I have a
2000 Pontiac grand prix GTP
Thanks.

A full rebuild was 2200, this was an upgrade from light Dakota spec to Cummins spec.  It handles the 5.9 much better than stock.  I picked up a lightle used T case for 300 and one of our friends installed it for 200 more.  Then a couple hundred for new front axles plus install.

Basically I rebuilt the whole truck between 2011 and 2013.  Engine, water pump, transmission, t case, axles, radiator...
all told 6,000, but cheaper than a new/used crew cab 4x4....

good luck

the problem I had was no time for down time…  I needed it done the day before…

I sure do miss the day when I could work on this stuff myself…

I rebuilt my 1970 Mach 1 3 times, these days… not sure WTH is going on...

It'll cost more to rebuild the tranny than your car is worth. That's the situation I was faced with when the tranny in my 97 Dodge Ram finally went out. Cost me about $2000 for a new tranny w/50K warranty.

I'd say sell your Grand Prix for $1500 (noting discount is result of tranny issues). then combine with the $2500 you were gonna pay for a rebuilt/new tranny...and buy a newer Grand Prix with the $4000. Or whatever car/truck you find a deal on. Heck, here's a 2007 for $4400. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/4433902707.html
