Out front at the campground try pokepolling. If you want surf perch, drive to the south end of Moonstone Drive and fish the river wash area on the incoming tide.

last year I visited Moonstone beach and talked with a couple guys fishing it "FM1 style", and they had a BUCKETFUL of big perch, like 2lbs each. Multiple species too. They were using shrimp and salted anchovies.

same morning we saw a fly fisherman battle an estimated 8-10lb steelhead in the creek next to the parking area.

good luck Andy!

You staying at San Simeon campground? Fishing off the point at SS state park is cool, fun little hike. Or casting south off the SS pier towards the isolated rocks/kelp. Or drive past Moonstone beach to the south end of Cambria and hike the trails that start at the end of Windsor Blvd. And +1 on the secret-steelhead fishing in Santa Rosa ck, San Simeon ck, Pico Ck, etc...(Weds, Sat, Sunday barbless artificials)
