Here are some pics of when they first started the subdivision.
Looks a bit different now. Can you see where the Tides Inn, the campground, deli and light house are now????

There is some incredible history there for sure. 

A few years ago I was going through some archive literature on the Mattole River.  One of the gems I found was a hand written letters by Albert Etter describing the steelhead and salmon run in the Mattole in the early 1900s.
