Damn, is that why I gained almost 10lbs in the last 3 weeks.   :smt005  It might be all that rice that goes with it.  Hard to eat it without that.

Let's do it! After my half marathon on December 14th, I'm going to start training for a Duathlon. Let's do some training rides... I just bought a hybrid bike

I ride a lot, mostly mountain biking though.  I subscribe to more of a Rivendell Grant Petersen approach though.  Laid back un-racer style, flat pedals, normal clothes. There's some great road rides and mixed terrain rides  around my area, SC county, N. Monterey county.  Also into multiday trips or touring also.

You guys are funny!

Anyways, let's do it.

Kevin, after Christmas then!
Jonathan, same with you. Finish that marathon and let's practice on your Duathlon and do your bike ride with us.
Rey, 5 miles is too short. You can do more than that! Becky is doing 25mi. already. :smt002. I'll start you off with 15 miles and then breakfast at Chowking "Lugaw with Tokwat Baboy". Hmmmmmmmmm.
Ghoti, just joking on the downhill ride. I'm with you on it being more dangerous.

To good health.

Danny

As I read this It makes me think of my dad going to the doctor years ago. The doctor asked him if he exercises. My dad "yes" The Doctor. Asked. "what do you do for exercise?" DAD " I ride my bike" Doctor "Where do you ride to".  DAD " To Santa Barbara". That is about 40 miles form where Dad lived in Santa Paula. Doctor Great how long does it take you?" DAD " About 45 minuets" Doctor WHAT KIND OF A BIKE DO YOU HAVE" DAD  "An 850 Suzuki" The Doctor had to tell mom the next time he saw her.  :smt044

Both my road and Mountain bikes are colecting dust.  I work in Palo Alto and have been looking for some one to ride with after work.  Iam in no shape to ride 50 let alone 100 miles yet.

Kevin,
You're the closest one then. I just attempted to do 50 mi. Coyote Creek Classic but it didn't mean I was in shape for it. Finished it though but suffered the consequences for a whole week. Would like to train further.
Been asking the more seasoned riders and was told that I should do 80% of the target ride during practice but didn't do it. Did only 20 mi. for 3 Saturdays and then the Classic.

We're both looking for someone to ride with and I think we found it. Let's hook up soon.

I"m up in Marin, and just now starting ankle surgery recovery, but ride weekly.

I'll be training up for yet another Death Ride or Climb to Kaiser this year, and probably RAGBRAI.
I usually do a 3-5 hour ride on Sat, starting at 9.

Right now, and for the next month i'm limited to an hour or max two hours...but will still start about 9:30 from Fairfax.

Kohole,
Can u give me details of the Death Ride (scary  :smt009) and the Climb to Kaiser as well as RAGBRAI? I'll gauge myself if it's doable. If not, gives me all the more reason to practice.

Thanks guys.

Danny
Thanks.

.
Pick some audacious goal, and go for it. Train smart, and even if late in the season you have to scale back that goal, you will still have accomplished much.

We used to train up near newbies to do the death ride over 4 to 5 months with TNT. It is a great goal if you want something simply nutty to shoot for. But, but...you have to complete the training ( in your best Yoda voice). C2K is MUCH harder the the death ride, though has less climbing
