I have both and pedal is the better way to go for hands free fishing and in windy conditions unless it's real real shallow or weedy, then paddle.

I can easily imagine the benefits.

 I was shopping around for used Hobies before I bought the Manta Rays, but they are so hard to find. The new Slayer Propel really re-sparked my interest in pedal boats though.
