I have this sunday free and want to hit the salt. It looks like Trinidad or off shore is out this weekend. Small craft advisory and nasty winds. does anyone know if there's halibut in the bay right now?

I haven't heard of them this year at all. Big buoy and I tried once for nada a few months back.

I'd hit the lower Klamath abking style over the bay, but TR either way. I hit Trinidad on Tuesday, stayed south of the launch and had an easy limit of rockfish just off the casino, might try that if the north wind isn't too bad.

I will maybe do some recon tomorrow or Saturday.  There is definitely plenty of bait in the bay.  I will try some live bait from my castnet or maybe jig some up and troll one rod with bait and one with plastic.  There have been 30-40lbers caught and I know where.  I also have friends that would consistently catch em under the middle bridge in shallow water near the eel grass.

Down south I used to catch 30" butts in 10' -45' in the bays. One live chovie on the bottom and another fly lined if the water is clear enough and >20'

Bass fishing Fri & Sat. , don't think I have enough WAF points left for Sun. , good luck & don't forget to post a real report ( non- Facebook  :smt003 )
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.
