These are great fish finders.  Do take precaution though to ensure the little plastic piece which covers the SD slot is sealed - that's where the water seems to be getting in.  Even knowing that though / didn't stop me from buying another Mark 4 - great fish finders!  Good luck with the sale.
This is true about the sd slot, and it's still driving me nuts.  I've not found a way to waterproof it so it wont corrode on me yet.  Going to have to send in both my units for replacement, and have to copy down 50+ waypoints by hand.  Oh, and have to buy a couple more 2GB SD cards, because those corroded on me too.  Fortunatly, even though the SD card slot has been problematic, everything else has worked on the FF, so I still consider them to be fairly waterproof.

The tick sound is the transducer.  The higher power the transducer (and lower the frequency), the more noticeable it will be.  As you switch to higher frequencies such as 200 (455/800 if DSI) it shoud be less noticeable but it will also not be sounding as deep either.

In all seriousness, I think $175 is a good price.

On a side note, can people copy navionics to another SD and use on a different unit?

I would think it should be possible. As long as the card is formatted with the correct file system and the files were mirrored it should work. I would need to research what type of file system the devices use.
