So, bummed. Coming home from Monterey yesterday (Tuesday 07/16), had some gear: Lowrance Mark 4 FF, 3 Scotty and 1 RAM torpedos, 1 attitude adjuster (wooden), 1 lip gripper in a brown cloth sack with a draw string secured (I thought) atop my kayak, which was atop my car, and when I got home - GONE. Perhaps fell off on or near Lighthouse Ave in Pacific Grove or Monterey. Unlikely to recover it, but just in case one of you local folks happened across this valuable bundle, I would love to hear from you. The Sandabs were delicious and we are having the two Rockies tonight.

Oh man, sorry to hear about the lost gears nick. At least They didn't fly off the freeway on your drive home and hit a vehicle behind you.

That would suck if someone "found" your gear embedded in their windshield. I never leave anything on top of my kayak on my drive home.

:smt010 what a bummer.  sorry you lost that stuff.

Yeah, theres a lot of wind on a cartopped yak. I've had seat pads come unsecured and flap around, and once I got home to find that the front hatch on my tarpon had come off, snapped the tether and was lost. With the hatch cover gone, the inflated airbag in the hull also got sucked out and was lost. Never saw either one fly away.

Ha! I'm driving over to lighthouse right now. I'll keep my eyes peeled Nick. But the odds are not in our favor. Lots of tourists & traffic the last few weeks.
If it makes you feel any better--I have a brand new lip gripper that I would like to give you! Let me know next time you're in town so we can meet up.

I think gears would be better than an actual kayak embedded on someone else's windshield behind you  :smt044. That's why these days, I make sure I put extra straps front and back as insurance.

Lesson learned. Thanks for the condolences, guys. Thanks, Sin Coast, for the offer of the lip gripper. That is something I use. We'll be in PG for the Feast of Lanterns, July 24-29. I'll be OTW Friday, 07/26 and Sunday, 07/28, if you want to join me. Will launch from Lovers' Point before sunrise and take out at CG Pier. Beers afterward on me.

Ouch! that sucks man!

When i bought my kayak the seat ended up breaking in half (plastic) from me putting the kayak ass end first, i guess it flapping around just cracked the plastic.  Drove all the way from arden to elk grove to find out it was broken, luckily Sports Authority was nice and I was able to drive back and swap it out for another...ughh! still what a PITA!

At phisphood: by hookup next Friday are you referring to 07/19 or 07/26? I'll be there 07/26. Hope to see you then.

This is the pacifier stick I have that you are welcome to...It's just been hanging in my shed for years. Would rather have it get used than just keep on hanging there. Thing is solid and if you smack a fish with it he is gonna calm down quick.  :smt003

I put in my car and hope to see you soon to give it to you.
