I might just bring a sample of brew for after the crappie fest too.....

I'm brewing again tomorrow, hoping to get all of my kegs filled.

Unfortunately, I do not have a VHF radio yet... it's still on my things to buy list.  If anyone can recommend a VHF radio, it would help speed up my purchase.  I carry my cellphone with me, but don't know if there is a good signal there.  I assume I will be able to see your flotilla, if I don't catch you from the launch.

The lexington report from last weekend has detailed information of where we will be.  You won't be able to see us from the main lake if they are in the same place.

There are probably discussions on the board (use the search function) dealing with radios.

West Marine is a quick choice but there are better deals on the net.

There should be decent cell signal at the lake.

:smt001  The wife just gave me a kitchen pass, so looks like I will be joining you Sun morn.  You can't miss me... I'll be the one in a tiny green kayak, pedaling instead of paddling.  I don't have any crappie bait, and both Big5 and Wallieworld was out, so I'll make due with the lures and jigs I already have.  Since I'm the newbie here, if it gets too crowded for the pros, I can venture to other areas of the lake.

Thanks for all the help, thanks for the open invitation, and I apologize in advance for any newbie mistakes I make  :smt002

Pros?  who the heck is a pro around here?  Maybe Mooch, he has a shirt with his name on it!   :smt003

Dude, just come out and we will all make it work and have a good time.

I have a jig or two I can give you.  Get light line.  4#.

I got 50-packs of Lemon Meringue and Tennessee Shad but some how mis-clicked on my web order with Acid Rain only getting a 10-pack. But, bottom line, I think I'll have a few grubs to share  :smt002

The point here is to get together with fellow kayak fishers for commraderie and catching. A nicer group of fishers I have never met even on my fly fishing trips which are supposed to be epic in their patrician team-building and commraderie (bah I say!  :smt011). Fishing unites people and everyone has a good time and kayaking more so. there is just something about fishing from a kayak you just don't get from a boat. And kayaking is just fun even when the bite is off. No one has much fun motoring around in a fishing boat if they aren't catching fish or fishing (unless towing a skier--but that's different) but a kayak fisher always has a smile. Heck, I own a sea kayak and kayak often as an end in of itself. Don't be shy--join us and you _will_ have fun. Enjoyment is absolutely required don't forget and leave you smile it at home--its as essential as your PFD. Crappie are prolific and there are plenty all over the lake. We'll _make_ you have fun whether you like it or not :smt012

:smt038  A big thanks to everyone on this forum who made my first CA yak outing a fun one.  Thanks to MolBasser and SurfingMarmot for the invitation and pointing out where the crappie were, and thanks to FrankFishing for giving me a couple jigs and grubs to fish with.  All told, I was on the water for 6 hours of glorious fishing.  While I only caught a single tiny crappie too small to keep, the fresh air, beautiful scenery, and crappie fishing lessons were well worth the trip.   :fish
