Yeah, it was a 1 day deal.  I think they will still price match though.  Not positive though.

I've heard stories of some users able to hit the 140'ish mark with it but it was simply not designed for that type of use.  I try to stear anyone clear of this unit if their primary intended use is 100 FOW or more.  Then there's the issue with transducer installation vs. performance with DSI installs.  The manufacturer suggests that the transducer be direct in the water for optimal performance.

I had my transducer epoxied as a thru hull mount on my last kayak and it worked fine to about 100' in turbid water, (Berryessa).  I just got a new yak so I'm doing a scupper mount, not because I was dis satisfied, 100' is plenty for my purposes, but I want to see the difference.  I'll let you guys know.

I would appreciate that very much. I am still trying to figure out how to rig up for my FF once I purchase one and I am very curious about that very topic.

Looks like they kept it on a sale price though not as good as the 1-Day sale price of $299.99

Now listed at $399.99.  Still seems to be a good buy for the right application.  Don;t think the B/O will take too long :smt002

Just picked up am Elite 5 Gold (non DSI) today for $399. I sucked it up and went for the additional West Marine 3 year exchange warranty 'cause I'm still paranoid about saltwater use.
Even with a long weekend coming up, I'll have to wait a couple of weeks to install this thing and put it through its paces :smt010 My WAF account is dangerously low and the to-do list around the house is long.

My Elite 5x has been holding up to saltwater pretty well for 3 years.  Just rinse it off and clean the pins after every trip.  I even use it sailing on my AI.  :smt001

Mounted the transducer in the scupper Friday, hit Noyo harbor Saturday and Albion Sunday. No noticeable difference but I didn't hit deep water either. I'll hit Carmel or berryessa Sunday and report.
