+ 1 on You Tube!
Also, google "meetup" and see if there is a Uke meetup. We attended free lessons on Saturdays with our local one - they even gave music sheets (it was the one in Sacramento). One time, we even got our two teenagers to go with us! That was earth-stopping all in itself, haha.

Also, +1 on not buying the cheapest uke, but you don't need an expensive one either. $80-140 is a good range. My hubby noticed a big difference between the one he got for $60 and the one he got for $130.

They have 2 different ones at costco.com.

I got one there and it's great for a beginner.  Plays very soft in volume so you won't have to suffer.  Ha!  Comes with everything you need.

Eric, you got the genes!  Take it up and you might discover that hidden talent from  your grandpa, the first Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso.

Lots of online tutorials on youtube.  That's how I learned my first song last year.  I would start with the 3 chord songs first then gradually build up till I got the hang of the strumming.

Does anybody know about Riptide or Mitchell ukeleles?  I saw a couple of nice ones at Guitar Center but it seems like everybody likes the OS or Kala.

I bit the bullet today and got myself a Kala.  It sounds great.  Now I have a lot of practice before the next Ukefest.

I can't wait to hear what it sounds like!

I thought about practicing today - I heard the "Over the Rainbow" song, haha.
