JJQ and I went out of Coral St on Wed, hoping to troll up salmon.  I went back in right after getting outside, because of the swell- about 8 at 8- and wind, about 8, was causing large rollers with some cresting a little bit- just thought I might get caught off balance and dump if I wasn't very careful, and I clearly wasn't going to be able to troll for long against the wind and rollers. The wind itself wouldn't have been horrible.
JJQ trolled his white hootchie just outside and got 5 or so decent rockies (and threw back some small ones) in about 45 mins total, then came in.
The Coastside Point and Click said 9mph at 6 am rising to about 15 at noon.  Of course, after we loaded back up, the wind calmed down and the cresting waves calmed some - I think only for a while, but I didn't stick around.
Have you heard of the "Otter Effect", where the wind howls down the coast, then creates a counter-clockwise eddy in Monterey Bay - winds from the NE in SC making it calm in the am, winds from the south at Moss, West to NW at Mntry, then in pm the prevailing wind overpowers the eddy and stays that way until the evening, when the eddy starts up again?
Check the Point and Click and the Marine forecast - if the morning starts off below 5 mph and doesn't rise much above 10 or 12 at noon, then it's a good bet.  But you could get lucky on any day with a lull, or unlucky, like I was with more than expected.

Just passed by and and the wind did seem a bit high but I would still fish it. Btw I was fishing SWS all morning. The swells were 5-6 and wind started to chill out around 1. One decent cab, two lings and some blacks and blues. I had a video from otw but deleted it on accident. Fish on brothas
