It's pretty unlikely that you'd see a sixgill shark out there - they're more of a bottomfish and quite rare.  Spiny dogfish, blue shark, thresher shark, soupfin shark and GW shark are all more common around here and more likely to be near the surface.  Soupfin sharks are caught fairly often from the pacifica pier when the salmon are about, appearantly they both follow the schools of anchovies.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

If I remember right it was you and ChuckE I bumped into off of HMB, I was actually pretty impressed that you guys were out there in that little boat What was that about 8ft long?  If I was going offshore in something like that I'd be wearing my drysuit and some waterwings

Smaller!!!   :smt043
Plus we were packin 8 crab traps too.  Talk about being stacked high......

great observation josh, i had checked multiple pics of all the sharks mentioned in your post except the soupfin.  I checked out some soupfin photos just now and its a good possibility thats what it was.

blue, i noticed on your gps you had a top speed of 6.8, i'm gonna guess that you did that with the wind and a wave at your back...  pretty impressive average speeds.
