I'm dead with Loch Leven :smt010 WHAT A TRIP!Dam!the size of them all!Alantani, you are it!Is that a week that you were there? What a great time.I know that if I have to ask then I probably cant afford it,but I'm asking....how much$$ Good post & pics!

from northern california, a 5 day san diego charter can be pulled off for $2k.  that includes driving down and coming back with up to 1000 pounds of whole fish that you cut up at home.

i'm still adding up the damage, but i think alaska is around $3k if you book early (and i did not).  an alaskan long range trip requires air fare, extra lodging and fish processing to bring home 100-200 pounds of filet.  here are photo's of a pair of 50 pound boxes.  you can bring home two as checked luggage.  your personal gear has to go "carry on."  any extra checked items are $50 each.

for the ill prepared, you all know that a 150 pound yellowfin tuna can bring even a strong man to his knees.  a 150 pound halibut is much easier fight, but what the halibut lacks in fight, the alaskan wilderness more than makes up for in beauty.  it is a sight to behold!

Some statistics from the Captain:

I think the final head count was 34 cases of beer
24 fish over 60 inches ( the length to weight chart would call them 108 pounds) largest pushing 190. ( 90 pound average)
24 more between 8 and 60 pounds ( 40 pound average)
100 lingcod to 55 pounds
100 yelloweyes to 15 pounds
238 Tom Cod off the dock at night
Finally Alan caught a 48 pound halibut from a kayak last night at 11PM in front of the lodge.
1 inflatable Jenna Jameson doll ( still in my bunk room)

We took home 1600 pounds of fillets. There were probably 100 smaller halibut released, at least 100 lingcod set free, and many yelloweyes sent back down.

Alan, those video clips are cool.  Now, we can see why the big boys are called "shooters".
