I just tried it and it turned on and is working fine for THIS minute. We will see what happens next try.

No diving today. Going out in morning at first light just for an hour is so. I will turn on camera when I leave the condo, and not turn off till I get out of the water. Well see what happens. At least it turns on now.

Rob, one thing I noticed that will get it to freeze up is if I push the buttons too quickly. Now I always wait until the lcd screen moves to the next icon before pushing the button again. Hope you get some killer footage tmw.

Water is pretty tossed tonight. Hope it settles in the AM.

what other consumer product tells you to update your firmware right out of the box...

Any modern phone for one.
Any computer
Any tablet

Any modern product you purchase from dealer stock SHOULD have an update function.  That allows the company to keep improving the product while allowing YOU to walk into a store and get instant gratification.  Typically however, most consumer products don't ship with buggy firmware.  Shame on GoPro for that. 

Well I had it out today. More for bike riding. It seems to be like someone said earlier. If I hold the button too long it has more of a chance to lock up. The on button or the record button. It's messed up, but I think I can get through the next seven days here. Diving starts tomorrow now. All the other stuff is out of the way. I got out in the surf today and it seemed to work fine.
