Thinking out loud here. Allen what would it take to add A specific lake to AOTY? Lake naciemento to be exact. For us in Monterey county San Antonio and Naciemento are the closest lakes for us to fish for multiple species. I understand its out of Monterey county lines but just A few miles from the boarder. Can we vote on it? Slap me if I am way outta line here...Thanks for reading. :smt006

Good question Andy.

I don't know nothing about these lakes, but if they are just over the border and there are not other freshwater spots for Monterey County guys it may make sense...

If you don't get an answer or response from the AOTY guys you should PM polepole, Bird and Sailfish cuz they are this year's AOTY committee.

I would imagine any changes would have to be for 2014 since we are already well under way with 2013...

Correct me if I'm wrong,  but isn't the main species there white bass?   They are not an AOTY species I think, right?

Also,  The water surface itself is considered Monterey County but the land around it is in SLO county.  Kind of a weird one for sure.

There are small amounts of trout, BIG bluegill, Huge Crappie, and lots of catfish in this lake. We bring it up again when the time permits.

Naci is a few miles south of the Monterey Co border.
http://www.californiafishingonline.com/Lake%20Nacimiento%20California.png

It is the only lake within 2hrs of Monterey/Salinas that has spotted bass. Also has significant panfish and catfish, along with SMB and LMB. It's also the only lake in CA w/white bass, but those aren't in AOTY.

In Naciemento you could get ticketed for not imediely killing the fish by ripping the gills out, They are worried because they are an invasive species that thrive and gobble everything up. :smt002

5.90. White Bass.
(a) Open season: All year.
(b) Limit: No limit. No live white bass may be possessed or transported. Any white bass taken must immediately be killed by removing the head or cutting through the gills, except at Lake Nacimiento (San Luis Obispo County) where any white bass taken must immediately be released into the water or killed by removing the head or cutting through the gills.

I used to have fun catching them in Texas.  It's not my fish string in the picture BTW.  :smt003
