3/2/13 caught my first steelhead

Kind of a bummer... no trophy steelhead. 

Its gonna be kind of hard for that salmon to swim away dead with a big dent on its side from resting on a hard object.

Unless you are 100% sure of what you caught, and 100% sure it is legal season, size, and species, RELEASE IT!

Therein lies the problem... it seems he was 100% sure it was a steelhead.  Being sure of what you know doesn't mean what you know is right.  Here's to hoping this was just a rookie mistake, and a lesson learned.

I guess "100% sure" varies from person to person. In my mind, being 100% sure means consulting the reg book, and you can't flip through the sport fishing regulations without seeing the salmon/steelhead identification pictures...

For the record, I agree with you... I was just trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt.
