I have been trying some less frequented spots this past week, and it has been fun.  I will be going to the Toe Drain tomorrow in the AM looking for bass, crappie, cats or sturgeon. I don't know exactly where we will launch, but I did some recon over the winter and know of two possible locations.  My plan is to get there, look at the water level and walk around a bit before deciding where to launch.

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Is this the same place we had to paddle about 2 miles to the good fishing ground last year?

The toe drain is miles and miles long. Several places to get in also. There are several places like that from the Sutter Buttes all the way to Cache slough.

No, it is a different place.  I will be exploring that spot some more looking for bass and crappie when the water gets a bit warmer. I have been looking at it a lot on the map recently and there look to be some pretty sweet attraction flows within paddling distance.

My experience today at the Toe Drain was lots of homeless peeps presumably catfishing with unattended rods that were cast across the entire span of the drain  :smt011 I was tempted to cut all the lines with my river knife, but have already reached my weekly quota for pissing people off.  The water is fishy,  dirty, filled with homeless camps, and all launches I found come with  a serious break in risk.

Be careful if you go north of 80, used to be a large homeless camp there, not saying they are bad people, but easy ambush in the tight channel. I paddled across the DWC before to access Lisbon, its a lot of work but can be done rather than paddling for miles down the drain.

I was more interested in going upstream of 80... and yeah, lots and lots of homeless peeps.
