Got a call today,
A friend of mine wanted me to help him get a friend of his onto some fish.
Now I'm not a guide, but also haven't had any water therapy in a while so ....
We met up at my place around 9:00am on Sunday morn and headed out to Oniel Forbay in persuit of the mighty Striper. After a few important stops along the way (Deli for Sandwiches, Starbucks for GoGo Juice, Gas, and of course a restroom break), we arrived at the forebay around 11 ish. The guy at the gate insisten on doing a inspection and was really nice to allow us to continue after finding a bit of water (about 4 cups) in one of the yaks ..... don't forget to dry them yaks after cleaning. Finaly got on the water around 12 ish and headed accross the lake to the rock wall to the east. Decided to go with the 4" Prizim Shad Swim Bait on a 1/4 oz head. Guess I chose correctly as after only 3 casts .... Fish On!!!! made sure all were using the same lure and what can I say, it was all about hooking and cranking for the rest of our day.
It was a great day with friends old and new .... Oh Yah, forgot to mention ....
This new anglers name is Taira Uematsu and he has a very unique job, He catches in the bullpin for a team some of you might have heard of ........ Check out the bling in the pic.
We really had some fun, especially when I told him I am a fan of the other team
Even though he is on the wrong team, he's a hell of a great guy and not bad of a fisherman either

I still have hope for you Eric - you'd look good in black and orange!

Nice job on the hook-up!   :smt006

Glad you got someone OTW and put 'em on some fisheez.  Looks like you hit it just right.

But what's the point of the attendant insisting on an inspection if he'll just be really nice and permit a failed boat OTW?  4 cups ain't just a bit of water, its almost a liter.  You gotta disclose the secret handshake to pull that one off  :smt002

It's nice of you to teach someone how to fish. Thanks for the report and pictures Eric.

Great report Eric. Thanks for the info & pics. And congrats on helping them catch some fish too. That always feels good.
But I have to admit this report is kinda like the twilight zone...SF Giants championship ring + Hobie tandem in a yakhopper report?  :smt044

Well, have to admit, didn't want to go w/ the Bicycles on my trailer. But, it was Taira's first time in a Kayak so we decided to bring my buddies tandem.
We had a great time razzing each other about our teams.
Getting past the gate was pure luck. The guy who insisted on the inspection had to man the gate while his assistant did the inspection.  When he found the water, I reminded him that the inspection is useless on that particular lake because the whole problem started in the bay and delta .... the same place they pump their water from. Either because he was a rookie or he actually saw the reality in the situation, he gave us a break and passed our inspection.

Sent from my phone cause I can ;-)
