Wes and I were up above the AR and Chevys on the Sac today. Jigging was hit up there also. Fish were dark but HUGE!
Except for the ones we were catching.

Hey guys,

Looks like there are a few people who want to do this.  Best thing I can figure is to meet up at Garcia Bend park at 6:30am, figure out who wants/can haul yaks up to Disco or Broderick launch, and the logistics to get the original drivers back up to the launch with their kayak once we are finished.  I prefer this option so we can set a cut-off time and who's there goes, come late and you won't affect the group.  That should get us up at the launch around 7am or a bit after and it should be light enough that we won't need running lights plus it will be a lot safer.

Second option is to drop off a maximum people hauling vehicle at Garcia Bend, have everybody meet up at the launch and when we are finished, leave someone with the kayaks while drivers pile into the transport vehicle which would take people back up to the launch to get their vehicles and drive back to pick up their kayaks.

Normally this could be a nonchalant hook up but because of the drop off and pickup part it will need to be a bit more stringent.  It also is a bit more challenging because I have no clue how long the drift will take.

So, I've talked to a couple people at the tourney today and will see others at the hookup at Howe.  To confirm things (if you can confirm you are in, leave a confirmation post on here as well as what your vehicle can handle).  Please be sure if you can/want to do this as this affects the group logistics.  Remember, I will and I am sure other people will be up for this trip later on.  It will be a lot easier to plan ahead once we get this shakedown trip completed.

Example:
Steve- Civic Hatchback - can handle two people no problem - three with a bit of a squeeze.

***This is a basic jigging trip.  You won't need multiple poles, non jigging tackle, bait, coolers, anchors, etc.  Keep it basic and light.  This will be extremely helpful for the commute.***

Sure.  Were you wanting to try out the dredger holes at the 28th street, the port Salmon, or port Stripers.

The port is Washington Lake on google maps.  There is a gate that  seperates the "lake" from the Sacramento River.  Generally we just jig right by the gate where a small trickle of water comes through.  I usually sit right next to the gate and just jig.  Not the most exciting fishing but you can mix it up with trying for stripers as well.  It is basically the dead end for the deep water shipping channel so any fish that come up basically hit the gates as it is the dead end.  I have been spot hitting it once a week but not much action.  Very easy access (public launch) and short paddle to the gates.  The port/Lake Washington is an excellent kayak fishing place for Sacramento, kind of a must do place for Sac.  There is public access right off of Jefferson blvd.

The dredger holes by 28th street is fishing actually on the AR at night.  It's pretty cool to do.  A bit tougher getting down to the launch but not too bad.  You are also drift jigging with the current trying to follow the dredger cuts along the banks (deep trenches).

Both of them require using glow in the dark tubes (gidzits).  I use a flashbox to charge the lures but a bright led flashlight will work as well.  Some use camera flashes as well.  Usually tip the jig with a sardine strip or use some pro-gel scent.

It's strictly vertical jigging.  So nothing special is required although a bait caster makes it easier for line/depth control.
