It is a trip to see steelhead (and bass) so close to a major urban area.  I took the family on a quick hike along a small Sac River tributary here in Redding last weekend and saw several nice fish.  Couldn't get close enough for any decent pics, but here's a shot of the kind of obstacles they had to overcome.  Hard to believe they can make it up and over this stuff after already swimming halfway up the state.

I vote for bass. I remember a few years back when some a holes were trapping salmon in shopping carts thrown into the Guadalupe. Easy pickings... those poor fish didn't have a chance.
