My worst experience with Craigslist was when I bought season tickets for Cal football. They where the original not reprints so I thought they would be great. Cal has some stupid policy to allow reprint of tickets so they were all bogus. Never buy Cal tickets online since it is impossible to tell if fake or real.

I always fund my stolen stuff ending up on craigslist.

A few years ago in Sacramento I had my tarpon 140 stolen by some crackhead.  I found it a week later on craigslist, but by the time I called 2 guys had already shown up to buy it.
I've been watching for your ff I check for kayaks daily Modesto, gold country, and sac

My only bad experience was I told the seller that I'll buy the kayak and will pick it up on the way home in the evening and he said he'll hold it for me.   When I got there he said he sold it in the afternoon to another guy!  I reminded him what he said and he told me "it's mine and I can sell it to anyone I like".  I told him that he could've give me a call so I didn't have to drive all the way there but he just turned around and walked back into his house.
Same for me, Back when I was searching for my first yak, I had someone from Sacto posted Tarpon 140, I called the guy got the first Dibs, and told me he will hold it, as I left home after an hour talking to him I said I'm on my way, he says cool, see you in 2hrs or so, got caught in traffic, but still within 3 hrs range, as I turned to his address I saw a car pass me with Kayak on top, knew it right there it was the I was "suppose" to pick up, right in front of the house I called the guy and says I'm here..so he step out and says Oh my I just sold it like 5 min ago..he offered me 50 bucks more..I told him, I cant believed you sold your diginity for 50 bucks, I came from san francisco all I wanna do right now is punch you in the face but your not worth it...
I have nothing but good to say about Craigslist.  There was this one time I went out to Sac to look at a Tarpon 140.  I got there and this dude tells me it's sold.  I offer him $50 more and he tells me it's mine.  I suppose the worst part about this experience is this kook that cut me off as I was driving away.  Some people.   :smt009

Here are a couple....

I had a tool box for sale for $35. The guy drove 2 hours and offered $30. I said I am firm on $35. He passed....dude really you just drove HOW far for and couldn't fork out another $5

I was selling some kids clothes. A guy drove 40 min to look at them. When he got there he called his wife and described EVERY piece to her. Mind you there were 50+ items. He ended up buying 1 pair of shoes for $1...My wife and laughed as he drove away!

Yeah craigslist people are the worst.  When I was livin in sacto some kook was supposed to buy my yak.  He took forever getting to my house so I sold it to someone else.  Then the late guy shows up and tells me he wants to punch me......sheesh.  :smt120

I have noticed that hassles can be avoided for the most part by only replying to inquiries that don't seem written by dyslexic 3rd graders on Ritalin.

Does it bug you guys when people insist on a phone call?  I mean, what is there to discuss?  You either want what I'm selling, or not.  I'd much rather deal with inquiries all at once via email a couple times a day rather than be playing phone tag with a bunch of folks all day.

I ask for a phone # but generally e-mail.  I have found that asking for a ph# will generally weed out the fakes.  Aso, ignoring any e-mail that asks "is the item still for sale".
