This is probably the last 2 weeks of the WSB. It's a guess but statistically the bite is better around the dark and full moon but you can catch them off cycle. As mentioned, if you really want one, fish for 3-4 days and haVe lines in the water before grey light. That will give you a chance to use daily intel to choose your location for the next day. What you don't see in the reports is how many times guys went out and got skunked before they caught a WSB. There are a few guys that really do catch them almost every time out but most are 50/50 at best and many are working on multiple skunks.  I may see you out there but if I don't, I hope you all get one.

Sounds good... Will be there. Does anyone have an extra tray of squid I can buy before we launch? I plan on using the sabiki but I don't have any bait to get started...

Vu said we have to be on the water no later than 5:30AM at Aldo's - I would say a good 20 minutes prep time is needed to unload and find a parking space on the public street.

Probably should have went but I need to gather tackle and I am planning on next week.  I also like staying here and chasing barn door pacific halibut.  Only problem is lately my pac halibut I have been catching keep shrinking.  I caught a 28"er yesterday on my boat while another boat boated a 70, 60, 52lber.  We did have a big one on my buddys rod though, but spit the hooks before we got to see it.

Keep catching the wsb and ca halibut and I will see yall on the water end of next week.

Long drive for me but I'm thinking of going and camping somewhere close and not coming home until I get one or a good sized but. At the rate I'm going I may have to change my voter registration to Santa Cruz County. Any advise on campgrounds in the area? I'd be there week days.
New Brighton State Campground and Beach. Can actually launch for free below the campsite with your pass.
Sunset State Campground and Beach, a little farther south, but nice. KOA is near this location as well and you can research all of these online.
North of town, on Hwy1 off the side of the road approx 3-4 miles out of town. A little sketch, but the price is right and there are semi-permanent rv's and campers lined up there on a regular basis.

nada today. But we had a good time just been OTW.  Many boats, 6 yaks, seemed real quiet from 6Am till 1PM.  Well hopefully next time.

Jae, thanks for the help, that tiny swivel of yours saved my first newbie Halibut. That tiny swivel also held the hook from the two bat rays and third time was a charm a nice Halibut. Thanks man

nice meeting to all of you this morning, awesome, you guys rocks
