I don't know much compared to the guys on here but, I can tell you I paddle a T11 and my wife paddles a Tarpon 100...mostly ocean but, not way offshore either.  I fish and she takes pics and explores mostly.
No issues and super maneuverable in shallow, narrow spots on rivers and lagoons.
How far you normally paddle would make a difference on length and how you haul and store your boats also plays a part of the decision.
I am 5'10" and 170 and my wife is 5' 2" about 125 and we are both over 50 and I cartop our boats and this combo works for us and probably really badly for others with different needs, uses, etc.
I love my ocean kayak for fishing and my wife wishes she had a Hobie (mirage drive) for hands free photography.

You're making the right decision going with the trident, the rod pod makes all the difference when you're diving.  So convenient.

I paddled the t11 as a patrol/rescue boat for aquanfest.  Im a pretty strong paddler and at one point I was in full on sprint mode chasing down a tandem that wandered into the "no fly" zone.  It was a ton of work to keep charging it.  Its definitely doable but if you plan on doing any distance I'd strongly consider the 13 for her too.  Honestly, when conditions in the ocean turn, size matters. You'll want every extra foot you can get for the added paddling efficiency.  Just my. 02

IMO: take your time and demo before you decide on what to purchase. Comfort is also a key factor. Good luck!
