Wow! Who Da thunk it. In California when we think of New Jersey fresh water, & river monsters, we think of them pulling out Mob monsters in cement overshoes, not giant Pike.  :smt003

Thanks guys !!!  I would say that I have caught about 75 pike this year so far and my favorite time to fish for them is Aug. and Sept when the weeds fill the river.   I know of 6 other kayakers that hit the river at least once a week and the total for all of them this year is 5 pike!   Living so close and knowing the river, really makes it easy for me.  I could paddle 5 miles on the river and only hit 6-7 one acre areas that hold the fish.  I just keep hitting the areas that have produced fish over the years,  and it seems like the same spots, year after year.

And to think........all of my fish have been taken about 25 miles from Times Square NYC !!!!

I have taken a few people over the years,  but it seems they all have problem, paddling and casting while they are blind folded !!!  LOL

So what do they taste like!  Are they good eating?  Thanks for your post.  Nice fish.  Must be fun catching that big one.

I am not sure what they taste like,  but I am told when they are caught in Canada and pristine lakes up north....they are very good eating.  Although the river I fish has come a long way in the past couple of decades, I don't know of anyone that would eat anything from this river.

If I ever get a chance to fish in Canada, I will let you know what they taste like!  LOL
