Can't u just apply to the rear 2 feet of the yak since if u lift from the bow, only the rear edge surface touches the concrete?

Peace 2 U

I hope so that's what i did bu t also put some on the front for when I'm at launch ramps

Can't understand why that would not work. Thats what we always did on our old White Water Canoes. The bow and stern take the most abuse. I have always ran the strip the full length on my touring kayak because the v shaped hull, but it wouldn't be a necessity on a sit on top with a relatively flat bottom. Thanks for the Pics Hallsworth. Please post up a review after you have had it on for a few months.

Yikes!! That's a bit more expensive than I envisioned for a strip of sticky tape. I must admit I am less interested now  :smt012

It more than just sticky tape. It's made out of Kevlar. Tad headwaters has it by the foot for $4 we have the white 2". It's a flat rate $100 for the keel ease and install from us, or you can pick up the amount you need and install it your self, it's not cheap but it's cheaper than repairing or replacing your boat. I would think a 3' strip on the bow and a 3' strip on the stern would be pretty good. Come buy for the next install clinic and I'll show you the boat we did.

I'm interested in the 2" and 3" strips in gray, which the keeleasy blog says they now carry. Anyone has any idea where I can get them? I want to put it on my new yak before the maiden voyage.

thx,
ernest

The Headwaters Kayak Shop carries the product. If you do a phone order Dan can ship it to you. If you are going to the Salmon Slam II I can deliver it there.

I can ship it to you but it needs to be at least 10' So you would be looking at $40 plus a few bucks in shipping.

Buy the 40 feet and I'll take 12' from you, and I'm sure someone else local will buy whatever is left over.

Sorry, I placed order for 12' on the 2" strip only. The 3" is not yet available in gray. Just order what you need from Dan or from the website.
