Thanks again NorCal!

and BIRD yes the bird pics are from the trip to NB
I have a couple videos that show me in the middle of thousand of crashing birds
it was wild

I have been in bird piles may times
but these were the thickest I had ever experienced
By Far,  at times I thought I was gonna get beaned in the head for sure

Can someone name the bird sitting on spongebob?

My wife visited the nature center and heard about migrating birds from New Zealand
Not sure if this is one of those? or?

thanks again
Don

Hey man nice to see some big time so-cal guys up here. Looks like you had fun at NB. The bait out there in Capitola is insane just not holding wsb, thresher and yt like LJ.
What kind of camera do you use? Those are some awesome shots. If you enjoyed the ling/RF fishing and come up again I would be glad to show you a few holes in Carmel that are always populated. Lots of cabezone there as well. All under 60'.

The bird perched on Spongebob is a Brown Booby!  Not too common for these parts.  They are a tropical bird that will occasionally frequent the Monterey Bay and vicinity.
Nice Booby.

Thanks Bellcon - the birds in the first pic are shearwaters.  They are usually a pelagic species found offshore but uncommonly come in close to feed when the bait gets thick.  As Raptor mentioned, the second photo is a brown booby, this is a very uncommon/rare bird in NorCal.  Likely this far north because of ocean conditions and to take advantage of the thick bait.   Both are interesting observations indicative of lots of prey near NB......and not surprisingly, recent reports of WSB!  Thanks again Bellcon, good stuff!
