So, I shouldn't test it in the pool? or should I just make sure I rinse the hell out of everything...

Of course u shd test it in the pool.  Pool water isn't space, NASA still does underwater pool testing.  Def has value in the crawl walk run philosophy of incremental steps to not getting yourself hurt

Glen, I think if you wash right away it should be fine.  I've been working on my breathing under water in my pool just to get me more relax down there.  I can't believe how much harder it is to stay calm and stay down with the 7mm wet suit, even with all my weights.  Sometimes I wonder if just a little over a minute is good enough to find and shoot a fish.  I know that's all I've been able to do right now with the suit on.  I can usually stay longer when I didn't have to struggle just to get down to the bottom but with the suit even with the recommended weight I feel like I'm exerting to much energy.

Ray, careful when you do breath holds in the pool. That's how a lot of drowning accidents occur. It's best to have someone spot you.

As for bottom time, a minute is more than enough time to find/pop/shoot abs and fish. Your bottom time will only get better and better as your technique improves and you adjust and get more comfortable.

Also, how deep is your pool? If you're struggling to get down, then it's probably because it's shallow. You generally need more weight to dive shallow, as it allows you to be neutrally buoyant at a shallower depth.

Pool is only 8ft at the deepest.  I guess I have to buy more weights or lose weight.   :smt005  Thanks for the safety info.  I really did not think of that and I know now that I should because last time I felt some nausea after over doing it.   I'll make sure my wife spots me when I practice next time.
