Also check any soldered splices. I had one go that was all sealed up with paint on insulation and marine heat shrink tube. I screwed up and used copper pipe flux(acid) which was the culprit. It lasted 3 years and then it totally corroded the wires.

I had a ff that everytime you lifted it up to view it, it bent the wire just enough to make it work and then not.Couldn't see any problems with it, but if you moved it back and forth it would shut down the ff. I put a new wire from battery to ff and now it works fine. I also keep the connections lubed up and watch for corrosion.

i do recall finding the pin in the kayak at some point but didnt know what it went to.  oops.
Shadow10, what you missing in your photo IMHO, is one of the barrels on that female DIN connector. Check to ensure that all the male pins are present on the back of the cuda 350. More than likely that missing barrel is either the GND or power connector for your unit. You may have to purchase another transuder/power cord from Eagle. I would find someone that you know that has that same unit and plug yours in to ensure that the issue is just the DIN connector OR, try going to a west marine and see it that can plug your 350 head into one of their demo units to verify or eliminate the connector or LCD unit.

@dablazer - from looking at everything the only thing that seems to be missing is that female pin in the picture.  good idea with the west marine suggestion.  dont know anyone in my area that has the same FF so if anything i'll check that out.  i just picked up some extra fuses at ACE so if that doesn't work then i'll resort to taking it in.
thanks all for the suggestions and advice. its good to really get to know your equipment so you can deal with whatever problems that may come along later...and even better to know that you all are open to helping a fellow brother out.
heading up to monterey bay this next week and will most likely be launching from MBK.  hopefully i'll see one of ya'll on the water.
