Whats up locos,
A couple of weeks ago I went out and missed out on a couple of nice eels.  I was mad.  I was still mad this morning.  But down resting in the deeps waters of my stomach lies a Monkey Faced PB.  Thats right folks the score has been settled but not with the eel species on a whole.  I got the actual eel and ill tell you how.  I had some stuff to do this morning and was able to get out for an afternoon dive.  I used my booties yesterday to surf and before leaving today I said to myself... "Self, DO NOT forget your boots.  I cruise on down to SWS and start unloading stuff.  Son of a Monkey Face.  Forgot the boots.  so I got all my stuff together including the socks that I had been wearing all day and headed out.  Right off the bat my feet were freezing but whatever.  I head to a spot where I know eels hang around.  Dive down and HHHHEEELLLLLLLLLLLOOOO.  Take a shot, Spear and eel.  As i pull this water snaked eel out of his dwelling I noticed a big gash in his side.  A closer look reveals a spear sized gash in his side(not fresh)  where my spear a few weeks ago was not able to get the job done.  haha i gave him a good long stare into his beady little eyes.  has anyone else tough talked an eel, cuase lord knows i have.   I cruised the rock a bit more and found another slippery creature.  after the sound of metal gliding through the water I let out in a yell  " You will get in the bag and you will like it."  Now that I had my targeted species it was time to put some meat on the stringer.  Saw a few lings but were not even close to legal size.  Now here is where i ran into some problems and need some help.  I need and effecient and easy way to sharpens the tips of my spears becuase for the remainder of the afternoon I proceeded to go around and punch fish with dull dips.  hardly any penetration which can never be a good thing.  any tips or tricks greatly appreciated.    So I stop by Big Jims to show him the catch.  I go to wash my hands in the bathroom and come out to find Big Jim putting down some BLL and holding the eel in his classic pose.   Enjoy folks.

Darrel pulls up and gives me a weird look....I realize he has only seen me in neoprene or board shorts and never in my professional alter-ego costume!  :smt003 :smt005 :smt044

Congrats again on the pair of slippery suckahs, and thanks for letting me play with your eels!!!

Sincerely,

Jim

Awesome report Darell! I can't wait to get out there with you again! Jim, I hardly recognized you! Your so professional, minus the Bud Light Lime and gagging eel. I'm counting down the days till May fellas. See ya out there, and keep the reports coming.

Good job on the eels. If you find your speartips getting dull a lot, then you should take a small sharpener out with you. A whet stone should do the job, or even a small file will work. I use one of these:

About $5 and works well
