Sounds like fun Steve I have always thought it would be fun to have everybody fish the same lure if you pitched it to a lure maker you might be able to supply all the Lures talk to Dave maybe Big Hammer be interested.

or have teams that fish colors.....

I'm with Kayote. Lure retension adds to the skilll level and the elimination proccess. One lure. Two at the most, but they have to be identical. One weight, one color. Simple, tough, and challenging...  :smt002 No baits or scents!!! just skill.................

Try this:

Max three lures, same weight, same pattern....

you still have to deal with retention, but it is not too harsh

I don't know about others but I usually don't lose more than 1 or 2 lures a day so 3 seems like not too much of a challenge. I think 1 or 2 would make things more interesting. I will bring only 1 since I make my lures from stuff in my garage so making 2 identical lures is hard.

On a windy day and fishing close to the bottom I have lost 6 in one day. It all depends on how close to the bottom you are( where the big boys are) and the wind speed. 3 seems fair. You can lose one to a big ling.

OK Craig, 3 lures and hope it is windy.  :smt005 The real one fly derby is a team competition which might be fun. I bet I can get Flyyaker to join me on "Team One Fly". The location will give some folks an advantage which will be hard to get around unless we had it in a central location where almost everyone has fished like the bean.  : :smt010

One lure and make them all exactly the same. True competition.
